Very well done. I watched the dub of this this back when I was in high school on
VHS. That seems like such a long time ago now. I was a huge fan of all the
parody, though there may be things "younger viewers" may recognize, if
they read up on their history. I also enjoyed looking for all the random
subliminal frames during explosions.
It is a classic and I've always been extremely tempted to pick up a copy for my
shelf. That, however, would really show my age...
The one thing that I found interesting was that the show was originally supposed
to be hentai. The creator had so much fun with the project that it drifted away
from that.
Welcome back to the world of reviews It's
very well done and you made many good points. I particularly liked the
description of the soundtrack, as it really gives me a good image of what it
sounds like.
This is one of those series where I've only seen the first episode. Admittedly,
I watched 3 episodes of Futakoi. I could never bring myself to finish it. At
some point I'll get to FutAlt...
The thing that frightens me about the DOA franchise is that there's a live
action movie coming out next year. What's even scarrier is that it's American
made. Google it. Watch the trailer. Be frightened.
I'm really looking forward to DOA4, though that requirees me to buy a 360. I'll
do that at some point. Up till now, I've only played DOA2:HC for PS2. Lots of
jiggling!
Well written rewview, though I probably wouldn't have assigned it the same
(extremely high) ratings. You did well in backing up your opinion. I'd like to
see more of why you thought a category deserved a 10 though
It's nice to see other people writing reviews. However, I have a few
constructive criticisms. Don't worry, it doesn't mean your review is bad, but
rather a few points to help make your future reviews better.
First, you need to be able to back up your rating. In your section on story, you
have done nothing but provide a plot synopsis. Why did you think it deserved a
7? With a plot like that, it could easily have been given a 4 or 9. What made
you decide on that particular number?
Second, you don't need to mention what your rating is in the actual text. The
drop down boxes are there for a reason. Don't use them to boost your chracter
count
Third, elipses are a very specific type of punctuation. They do have a proper
place in the written English language. The elipse is the "..." used to
denote that there is text missing from the sentance (like when a passage is
abridged) or a long pause. They should not be overly frequent in most
prose.
Just a little constructive criticism (it might help):
You've got some decent ideas in there, though I would suggest you find ways to
express them better. First of all, you may want to look up the proper way of
using elipses (...'s). They're not intended to be thrown around as you please,
they are an actual type of punctuation.
Second, you should probably give your writing a once over before submitting. Use
a spell checker if necessary. You use the word "interphase" very
frequently in your review. Interphase is defined as such - The stage of a cell
between two successive mitotic or meiotic divisions. I think you meant to use
the word "interface," defined as the layout of an application's
graphic or textual controls in conjunction with the way the application responds
to user activity.
Third, keep in mind the ratings you give. on the scale from 1 to 10, 1 is
reserved for things that are absolutely horrid. You have never seen such an
horrible series/game in your life. Examples are Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing.
9s and 10s are reserved for those that are absolutely amazing. You saw God when
watching/playing. There couldn't possibly be anything better. Of course, those
numbers are purely up to the opinion of the reviewer, but I would advise that
you show some restraint before slapping a 10 on something. If you rate something
that high, prepare to back up your opinion with some text. The more extreme the
rating, the more you will need to justify your choice.
Quote by ryo88inuyasha CAN BE A little
feminine AT times, but CAN ALSO BE VERY
masculine.the fights ARE great BUT NOT ALL OF them. THE BEST SAGA is
the seven MAN ARMY which sorta balances THEM both, with A LOVE story AND
excellent battles.the review WAS somehwat accurate.
I personally wasn't a big fan of that story arc, even though we did get a whole
bunch of new characters. By that time, Inuyasha had already crossed the 100
episode mark and I got really bored. At that point, it really didn't matter to
me how long it was until the next episode, but I watched anyway. Ever have that
happen?
I stand by my original assesment, thanks for the input everyone. It's much
appreciated!

inuyasha would at least deserve a 9/10
If you take a look at the guidelines for reviews, 8's and higher should be
reserved for things that qualify as "absolutely amazing." From the
guidelines:
"Consider well what kind of rating to give. Giving a rating of '10' should
be very rare and only amateur reviewers give '10' to everything. Ratings like 5,
6 and 7 should be the most common. For example: if the artwork is nice, but not
special, give Art a 6."
But, opinions belong to the writer and everyone is entitled to his/her own
opinion.

not just 8 gah its getting to critical!!!!
That number is
just an average of the ratings given throughout the review. Maybe MT shouldn't
use so many significant figures...

^.^;; I loved the manga, personally.but I don't
really agree with you're rating... i would give it a 8/10
overall....
The problem I had with the review was there wasn't really a way to rate each
medium seperately. I sort of had to take an average of the three and make a best
judgement.
While I do like the series and think it was well done, I don't think it deserves
anything higher. High rankings should be less frequent and reserved for those
that are above and beyond.
To comment on the art style, Gilgamesh was based on a manga of the same title
published in 1972. From what I can tell, not much has been done to update the
artwork from the original source though a few charachter alterations did take
place.
The other thing I noticed about the series (though I didn't watch all of it),
was the amount of physics that was involved. They throw out some pretty heavy
stuff and it gave some translators a hard time.
But you must admit, a snowball fight using only telekinesis is pretty cool. I
wish I could do that...

Happy writing!
Nice review, you describe the series very well. However, from the way it sounds, I might have to pass on this one. Keep up the good work!
Ah... the movie that is almost as old as I am... *sigh* I've yet to actually watch the DVD of it that I bought, but I had seen it prior. Go Miyazaki!
